What my kids are reading

I have four kids, ranging in age from 16 months to 14 years. Since I haven’t introduced them here before, here we go:

My eldest son, at 14, is reading The Lost Warrior by Rick Riordan. He and I are fans of the Percy Jackson series, and this is a spinoff, in the same world but using different characters.

My second son, 12, is reading the fifth Diary of a Whimpy Kid book. I still haven’t read any of those, though I did listen to the first one on audiobook. He is also reading the Seekers series by Erin Hunter together with me, and we’re on Great Bear Lake.

My daughter, 3, doesn’t read a lot on her own. But her current favorite picture books include Max’s Breakfast by Rosemary Wells, Bad Bears and a Bunny by Daniel Pinkwater, Bee-Wigged by Cece Bell, Itty Bitty by Cece Bell, and just about anything with penguins. She is also a fan of Philadelphia Chickens by Sandra Boynton. We don’t own that one, and I’m pretty sure that we’ve had it checked out more from our library than anyone else.

Ever.

My youngest son is really only recently willing to sit for a whole book while we read to him. However, he’s also a fan of Max’s Breakfast at this point. Also, just about anything by Sandra Boynton. Barnyard Dance, especially.
